AMAC Held ‘Public Company Considerations for the Asset Management Industry’ Forum Successfully

On February 6th, 2015, AMAC invited the Global Managing Partner for Deloitte Investment Management group, Cary Stier to give a presentation on ‘Public company considerations for the asset management industry’.

 

In the first place, Cary introduced the way to get started on the road to IPO. In the IPO journey, he stress the importance of ‘people’, ‘accounting and reporting’, ‘process, controls and technology ’and ‘corporate governance’.

 

Then Cary explained the transition from private to public in detail. To start with the scope and plan, he pointed out four dimensions, which are ‘develop financial organization roadmap’, ‘develop compliance roadmap’, ‘develop financial management and remediation roadmap ’, and ‘develop legal structure’. Then Cary stressed the key point in the process ‘execute’ and ‘sustain’.

 

After that, Cary analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of going public for asset management industry. What is more, he reminded attendants of being aware of the costs going public. According to candid insights from CFOs, he also gave some suggestions.

 

Last but not least, attendants interacted with Cary about valuation of firms and whether to go into the public.
